Contoh Soal Expressions of Congratulations Verbal and Written - This lesson presents discussions on the verbal and written forms of congratulating others. A. Verbal Expressions
Example dialogue.
Situation: Bela is celebrating her birthday with her classmates in Garuda Hotel.
From the dialogue above we can find some expressions. What are they?
First, pay attention to the expression that highlight in red colors. “Congratulation on your 14th birthday”, “Congratulation on your birthday, Bela” and “congratulations on your winning in the writing competition.” Those expressions are used to congratulate someone. The expressions that highlight in blue colors are called the responses of congratulating someone.

B. Written Expressions
Do you have friend in another town or country? Have you ever congratulated her/him? How to congratulate her/him? To congratulate and compliment someone who live in another town or country we can send her/him a card.
For further explanation, study the expressions that are commonly used to congratulate and compliment someone in written ways.
Study the example below.
From the example above we know that the card is intended to Anindya from her friends Rika and Tika. The card was sent to congratulate Anindya because she won the poem competition 2015. Rika and Tika congratulate Anindya by writing “Congratulations on …”. You may also add some praises or compliments when congratulating others, like presented in the example above, “You deserved to get it”[/answe].
Study another example:
From the card above we know that the sender of the card is Linda’s mom. The card is written to Linda. Linda’s mom wrote the card to congratulate Linda because she celebrated her 13th birthday.
Study the two examples above. From those examples we find two expressions. First, we can find the expression of how to congratulate someone. Those expressions are highlight in red color. Then, the second one is the expression of how to compliment someone. They are highlight in blue color.
