Writing is not a one-shot process. To publish a written piece, we have to make a draft, review the draft, and edit our writing before it is published. Unlike in speaking, mistakes and errors in writing will ‘stay’ and can be seen easily. There are at least three things that we need to focus when processing the draft into news.

First, we have to make sure that the news is in line with the criteria of good news. Do you still remember the criteria of good news? Good news is credible and reliable, answering 5W (what, who where, when, why) +1H (how) +SW (so what) questions, and well-structured.

Second, we have to make sure that the news is written in correct grammar and punctuation. Any tenses can be used in news writing. We have to be aware of the context of the writing. Nevertheless, there are two things that news writers need to master: writing reported speech (indirect speech) and paraphrasing since news writers usually needs to collect information from various sources or informants. You can learn how the tenses change in reported speech by analyzing the following explanation.

Third, we have to follow the format of news writing and reporting. Things that we have to know for examples size of the font and data which should be include in the news (publishing date, author, etc.)

Teachers in FHS are very great. They enjoy teaching. They give their best when teaching FHS students. Many students can understand what they explain easily. “All teachers in FHS give me new knowledge”, said Jason from class X-1. Besides helping students with academic importance, teachers of FHS also help students in non-academic importance. Badri, the head of Scout, said that teachers in FHS always encourage students to join extracurricular and sharpen their soft skills. “That’s why most of students in FHS join extracurricular”, he added.

The contributions of FHS teachers are appreciated well by the school. Teachers who have taught in FHS for more than 5 year are given medals and financial aids. The awarding ceremony was held on Monday, 07 September, after the flag ceremony had finished. Though we have given the teachers appreciation, we still owe our teacher much. We should keep respecting and supporting our teachers so that they can always give their best.
