Contoh Soal Verbal and Written Agreement or DisagreementStating agreement/disagreement can be done in verbal or written form. Verbal agreement/disagreement is done orally when we directly speak to someone/people. Written expression of agreement/disagreement is done in the form of writing. It is usually done by writing a letter or a note. Now we will have some examples of formal and informal written expression of agreement/disagreement.

In example 1 and 2, we learn on how to make a written expression of agreement/disagreement. Example 1 is a formal written disagreement. Pay attention to the letter format and the expression used to state a disagreement formally (e.g. With all due respect, through this letter I’d like to address my disagreement on that). It is also important to introduce who you are, as mentioned in the first line : I am the father of one of your students, Andika Setiawan. In example 2, we can see how an agreement is written informally to a friend. It can stated directly (e.g. That’s a great idea Susan).
Beside in written form, agreement/disagreement can also be stated orally. The examples are as follows:
Example 3: Formal expression of disagreement
Mr. Handika : Wikan, can you tell your friends to attend a meeting with the headmaster tomorrow?
Wikan : All right ,Sir. What else should I tell to my friends, Sir?
Mr. Handika : No. That’s all. By the way, what about having a class meeting after a meeting with the headmaster tomorrow?
Wikan : I’m afraid I disagree with you, Sir. Many students will have an extracurricular tomorrow afternoon. I don’t think they can join it.
Example 4 : Informal expression of disagreement and agreement
Tedi : Deni, you look busy these days.

Deni : Yes, I help prepare my sister’s 17th birthday party tomorrow.
Tedi : It must be a big party.
Deni : I don’t think so. We only invite some relatives and close friends.
Tedi : I think inviting our school band will be great.
Deni : That’s a good idea. Let me talk to my sister first.
In example 3, we can see how a formal expression of disagreement is stated. It uses a formal sentence. It is used when we speak to someone who is older than us, e.g: teacher, parents, etc. Meanwhile, example 4 contains disagreement and agreement expressions in an informal way. It is addressed to a friend, in an informal situation.
